More Eating …

One of my favorite holidays is coming up this week, Thanksgiving. We may, or may not, be hosting my in-laws this year. Only time will tell …

The GF Turkey Day Menu

  • 7-Layer Salad (an old family favorite)
  • Roasted Turkey w/ Cranberry Relish
  • Green Beans
  • Sweet Potato Casserole
  • Baked Apples w/ Cranberries
  • Cornbread Stuffing
  • Mashed Potatoes
  • Blueberry Jello Salad (a Hunter Family Recipe)
  • Pecan Pie

What will be on your table?

    1. Your cranberry apples are so good. I’ll miss them this year! Here’s what we’re having:
      Turkey
      Stuffing
Macaroni and cheese (I don’t think I’ve ever seen this on a Thanksgiving table, but it’s a staple for my new sister-in-law’s family, apparently. It’s her grandmother’s recipe.)
      Mashed potatoes
Cranberry sauce (I made it last night, and I think it’s a little too tart. Hm.)
Sauteed spinach with garlic and pine nuts
      Green bean casserole
      Maple-pecan sweet potatoes
      Pies

    2. Well,

We hillbillies will be feasting upon the fruits of the land…

      Squirrel dumpling appetizers
      Raccoon biscuits
      Sage dressing stuffed Oppossum
      Sauteed acorns
      Toe jam preserves

      Enjoy!

    3. Appetizer:
Fresh Fruit Salad (pineapple, green grapes & strawberries)
Spiced apple cider punch (just mixed with orange seltzer)
Mrs. Webb’s mini crab pies (a good friend of Tommie’s is trying to start his own business… his crab pies are AMAZING!!)
      Main Meal:
      Turkey w/homemade gravy
Pepperidge Farm stuffing (cooked with celery, onion & butter)
      Strueseled Sweet Potato Casserole
      Mashed Potatoes (real ones :-)
Fresh Green Beans (w/butter, dill, garlic & parsley)
Green Salad w/tart apples, candied walnuts & pecans, feta cheese (though I forgot to put it on :-|) & an apple vinaigarette dressing (Deanna Miller’s recipe)
      Rice Pilaf (found recipe online)
      Whole Cranberry Sauce (Trader Joes)
Pillsbury rolls and biscuits (not my 1st choice but they’re my extended family’s favorite)
Gluten free dinner rolls from Earthfare
      Dessert:
Pies thanks to Divine Pies in Charlotte
Carrot Cake (Trader Joes and very good)
Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookies (thanks to Betty Crocker or Duncan Hines? box mix)
      Breyer’s Vanilla Ice Cream

    4. O.K. …. my word you must have cooked for a week. We only made three last minute additions:
      Spiced Apple Cider
Pineapple Cheese Pie (Sophie decided to make that.)
      GF Stuffing

You got me beat girl. I hope you weren’t cooking alone. :-) This is the first year I ever felt calm and “peaceful” during the food prep. It was GREAT!
